Reminder, this Friday, January 11th is the last day to register your child for Battle of the Books. If your child is participating and you have not yet registered them, you must do so by January 11th. What is Battle of the Books?
This is a fresh and fun way to engage students in reading award-winning books and then have a little friendly competition. Students simply gather friends for a team, read through the book list, and then answer questions about their books in a fun-filled competition. Teams consist of four students in the same grade group -- 2nd graders, 3rd and 4th graders combine as a team, 5th and 6th graders team-up, and 7th and 8th graders can join forces. We are hoping to have teams from all schools in our district.
There are 20 books on each grade-level list (3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th) and 12 books for our 2nd graders. Your student doesn’t need to read all of the books, but the more they read the better! And, most of the books have Accelerated Reader quizzes so they can easily meet their AR goals for the 2018-2019 school year.
